All furniture is
categorically organized in terms of function as well as size. Function
and use are related to room placement, i.e. against wall, center, or
floating and falls into categories as listed below (i.e. Tables,
Casepieces, Seating Furniture, Mirrors, et al). Further, within each
category, we differentiate styles from early, mid-eighteenth century
through late nineteenth century, (Queen Anne through Rococo Revival).
We mix, however, museum quality period antiques with pieces made later
of the style, which meet our standards. We feel that while not
everyone can afford a $4,000,000 block-front slant top desk, the
enjoyment of the form should not be denied provided the standards of
craftsmanship, trueness of design, and wood quality are stringently
met to be part of the Stanley Weiss Collection.
